The cowhides below are the actual ones sent; as a result, multiple hides of any one picture cannot be ordered. If more than one hide is wanted, please call us or find another hide on our website.
Please do not confuse the cowhides here in this category with the common brindle, black and white or brown and white hides that we sell elsewhere on the site for around $200-$249. Though not as rare as our exotic, "one of a kind" hides found elsewhere on our website, you still will rarely see hides that we have in this category that are this pretty and unusual in a retail store...they simply are not readily available. Representing less than 3% of all cowhides, these hides could easily cost $500-$600, if not more. Out of the 5000 hides we may sort through on our monthly South American trip, we will find no more than 100 or so of these unusual hides. Prices depend on size and how rare the color and style are. We have more of these rare hides than the next 5 websites combined, with over one hundred at any given time. In addition we specialize in extra large hides, hides that are 7x8 ft in size. Unfortunately, pictures rarely do these hides justice as the hides themselves are usually much more stunning in person! Most any one of these hides will take your breath away when you see it "in person"!
Each one is hand picked for size, quality, color and unique design. In addition, we spend anywhere from 15-30 minutes "sculpturing" each of these hide to have them look symmetrical. Hides coming in from Brazil can look quite badly as far as the shape is concerned. We only take the time to sculpture these higher priced hides.
All of these "natural colored" cowhides come from Brazil, the country that unquestionably produces the finest quality cowhides in the world. The leather of each one of our cowhides is very supple and soft, unlike so many other cowhides on the market today that can actually be quite stiff. In addition, our manufacturers do not use any of the tanning solutions that can produce the unpleasant smell that many other cowhide products commonly have.
